Official sources

These are the official government sources used to support the checker’s results. The checker uses different source packs for the United Kingdom and United States.

United Kingdom

England, Wales and Northern Ireland primarily use Food Standards Agency guidance. Scotland uses Food Standards Scotland guidance. Each record states the checker area it supports, including chilling, fridge storage, cooked rice, reheating, defrosting, picnic food and date labels.

United States

The current US checker uses federal guidance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, and FoodSafety.gov. Records identify whether they support refrigerated leftovers, food left out, reheating, defrosting, chilled food left out, picnic and buffet food, or date labels.
