Editorial and corrections policy
How this independent site prepares food-safety guides and responds when information needs correcting.
Who prepares the guidance?
Safe to Eat? is operated by Danny C. Guides are prepared by the independent site operator using publicly available guidance from the relevant food-safety authorities. The site does not claim professional food-safety or medical qualifications or independent expert review.
Sources and local differences
Guides link to their relevant official references, including the Food Standards Agency, Food Standards Scotland, FDA and USDA where applicable. Country-specific recommendations are presented separately, and the site's own conservative policies should be distinguished from wording published by authorities. For further detail see how the checker works and official sources.
Review dates and updates
A review date indicates when a guide was last reviewed; it is not a promise that the source has not changed since. When updating a guide, we aim to check relevant source wording, clarify the practical advice, and update the review date only when that review has actually occurred.
Corrections
If you notice an error, outdated source, broken link or misleading explanation, please email contact@safetoeat.uk with the page address, the concern and a supporting source if available. We aim to investigate reports and correct confirmed errors; we do not promise a particular response time.
Limits of this site
The checker applies documented rules to supported questions. It cannot inspect or test food, verify an unknown storage history, or replace official food-safety advice or medical care. If in doubt, follow the product label and applicable official advice.
